Praying mantus invasion

Had about 3 or 4 of these hanging out on the front door last night...

Careful opening your front door

I should sell this photo to the keychain light people, because not only does a good keychain light help you find the keyhole, but could also let you know if you have company. This guy was waiting to sabotage me several months ago, but I survived the ecounter, barely.

New Free Pest Control Services

he may not look like much now, but give this little guy a few months and he'll become quite the bug eating machine! although that makes me pretty quick, he wasn't easy to catch, chasing him all over the backyard in 105 degree weather...

Squatters at the house!!!

So these birds build a pretty nice one bedroom bird condo in a tree in the front yard. I'm taking votes on whether I should knock it down or not? The economy is tough, I may have to open up the nest and get the eggs, could make a tasty omelet? or should I just leave it alone?

New Security System for the house....

I installed this gravel "D" in the front yard, which obviously stands for "don't" break in and steal from this house. I'm feeling much safer already thanks to the "D".
A quick update on the orange tree... The only orange growing on the tree fell off this morning, not even as big as a quarter yet, very very sad.
And the backyard is becoming even more dangerous, with toxic mushrooms. I may have to go out and buy some golf clubs, since the mushrooms are about the size of a golf ball complete with its own tee. I could spend a nice evening smacking these things into the neighbors yard.

Vegas Shows

I just realized all my posts lately are about yard work, how boring right? Well I do spend most of my week working, but I get tons of show tickets from work, so I get the chance to see many of the best Vegas shows for free, lucky I know... Just promise not to tell my dates that I'm cheap and got the tickets for free....

New Backyard plant you CAN eat!!!

I felt bad not having any edible plants in the yard, so I planted an Orange Tree.... Don't get your hopes up though, I'll probably end up killing it so there won't be any fresh off the tree oranges to eat next time you visit. Well cross your fingers...

Warning!!!! Highly Toxic Backyard

Yes those are Oleander plants struggling to survive, very poisonous, so next time you're at the house, please don't eat any of the leaves. It wasn't my idea to plant them, I was just following "orders".
These plants however are bottlebrushes, and you can feel free to eat them.
The fake grass can be eaten as well, there are 3 varieties as you can see, lots of choices... but when you're on a tight landscaping budget, you have to either steal stuff, or buy remnants of fake grass and put them together like a giant jigsaw puzzle, and not fun work either, so I don't recommend it...

Spring in NW Vegas...

Just thought these flowers thingies in the front yard looked kinda interesting... enjoy

I'm MAD at Big 5 Sports

It seems like I can't even read the sunday paper and look through the ads without having to go buy a watch at Big 5 almost every week!!! grrrrrrr!!!!! its getting to be a little silly... but I really liked it, and with the glass on the back you can see the inner workings and I couldn't resist. Sapphire crystal, 22 jewel movement, swiss made, Lucien Piccard, automatic, with all those features you would expect to pay $62?, $63? maybe you'd even pay $64? you'd be overpaying, since I got it for only $60, that's right. and its automatic, no battery needed, I figure it will pay for itself in battery savings in just 150 or 160 years, after that it starts to pay ME back... i'm a financial genius.

Take that Bob Villa...

Dang this recession, I can't afford to buy storage, even if its particle board stuff, so I had to go out and build a big chest for my clothes, very sturdy, solid wood, probably weighs 250 lbs. I messed up and put the handle too low, look for an update when I move the handle up higher.

Snowboarding Trip

Went snowboarding the last few days, so my legs are like bruised jello... not even name brand jello, the cheap imitation knock off stuff.... ouch.... Thanks again Ben and Amy for letting me crash in the basement... it was a fun trip even though Ben kinda showed me up on the slopes, but before you feel too bad for me, ask him how the basketball competition turned out....
